Reflecting on the Year
Journaling Prompts
After finishing the guided meditation, it’s time to grab your journal or a piece of paper and get reflecting!
When we write down things that have come up for us, it helps to re-enforce and learning that can come out of reflecting. Take as much time as you need, and just write whatever comes up for you. Don’t overthink it, just get writing!
What mattered most to me this year? How can I spend more time and energy on this next year?
What highlights and favourite moments stand out as experiences I want to recreate? Why?
What relationships were most meaningful?
List the things I was proud of in the last year
List the things I regret, and why
List the things that made me smile and laugh
“The Guest House
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.”
Here is to a year full of joy amongst chaos, laughter amongst challenges, and kindness amongst it all.
Take care
