I AM AFFIRMATIONS

‘I AM’ statements are a very popular, simple and powerful affirmation style. They are often used during yoga classes, and as mantras in meditations.

The use of these within this program help to build onto our self compassion and acceptance from the previous weeks. As we know self compassion is very useful in helping with emotional issues caused by living during a pandemic, but there is also another reason that I have included them. When you are after a emotional pick me up, focusing on positive parts of ourselves is a very effective way of doing that.

As well as repeating affirmations of positive things we know about ourselves, we can play the long game, of repeating affirmations of things about ourselves that we may struggle to believe or are things that we want to create a shift in. When we constantly tell the mind something, eventually it will become true - it is the ultimate ‘fake it till you make it’. You are leaving yourself with no option than to believe that statement you are constantly repeating.
